Cbus Super Stadium was honoured to be the backdrop for one of the most powerful stories in rugby league this year.
Former Gold Coast Titans forward Jai Arrow, who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in May and medically retired from the game, took the field for his 99th appearance with the South Sydney Rabbitohs as they played the Titans.
The NRL made a special one-off change to the interchange rules to allow Arrow to be named as an extra player on the official Rabbitohs team list.
There were emotional scenes as Jai led his team out onto the field at Cbus Super Stadium, proving why sport is about so much more than just a game.
Cbus Super Stadium Venue General Manager Alie Tatnell said it's a proud moment for the venue.
"Jai started his NRL career at the Brisbane Broncos before coming across to the Gold Coast Titans right here at Cbus Super Stadium, so having him reach this milestone on the same turf, in front of the Gold Coast community that watched him come through, added real weight to the occasion," Mrs Tatnell said.
ARLC Chairman Peter V'landys called it a chance for the game to bring out the best of humanity, saying Jai has inspired millions with the courage he's shown fighting MND.
