Naara ignites the AFC Women’s Asian Cup as first-ever tournament mascot

05/12/2025

The AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026™ today unveiled Naara – the first mascot in the history of the tournament – in a vibrant celebration held on International Volunteers Day at the Broadwater Parklands on the Gold Coast.

Dozens of dedicated tournament volunteers were in attendance as Naara made her dramatic debut arriving atop a bright red fire truck before stepping on to the stage to model and officially unveil the tournament’s volunteer uniform.

Dancing her way into the hearts of local fans, Naara taught the crowd her signature moves alongside dancers and volunteers - giving fans their first glimpse of her fearless personality and marking the beginning of her journey to inspire young fans, energise matchdays and bring the tournament spirit to life.

Naara will delight crowds on the Gold Coast during six Women’s Asia Cup matches next March, including what is set to be a huge match as the Matildas take on Iran.

Stadium General Manager Kristian Blundell said the venue is gearing up for a huge year of content, kicking off with the Women’s Asian Cup.

“We can’t wait to hold six huge international matches right here at Robina on the Gold Coast and welcome fans from locally, nationally and across Asia to our venue,” Mr Blundell said.

“After hugely successful Monster Jam and World Supercross events, we can’t wait to once again unveil our world-class turf and further showcase the versatility of the stadium.”
