Super times at the World Supercross

Cbus Super Stadium welcomed a near capacity crowd on the weekend for the FIM World Super Cross Championship Australian GP.

The World Supercross (WSX) team hit Australian shores for round three of the five-round championship, with Ken Roczen taking out the top spot on the podium in SX1, while Max Anstie was named the winner for SX2.

Cbus Super Stadium General Manager Kristian Blundell said the WSX was unlike anything the venue had seen before.

“We were incredibly excited to welcome the FIM World Supercross Championship Australian GP to the Gold Coast; the only event of its kind in Australia and the first time at Cbus Super Stadium,” Kristian said.

“This was one of the most anticipated World Supercross races with fans flocking from across the region, interstate and from as far as New Zealand, Sweden and the United States to the stadium to watch one of the biggest and best line-ups of supercross,” he said.

“The track setup was a sight to behold with 23,000 cubic metres of dirt brought in to allow the jumps and turns to be built to FIM’s standard.

“The Fan Zone activation before the event was also a major highlight, allowing locals to come and get a feel for the event, which resulted in some last minute ticket sales.”

The Fan Zone activation featured something for everyone, with rider signings, caricature drawings, tattoos, bike demonstrations and even learn-to-ride sessions for kids on offer for WSX fans.
